I just updated Prime95 on my PC to v29.8 Build 3 and almost instantly it says that it has found errors with my hardware. What is odd is that Prime95 v29.4 Build 7 and Prime95 v29.4 Build 8 do not find any issues nor does OCCT. Are there any known issues with this new version of Prime95?
Not sure if this posted in the correct section or not.. |

There are no known issues. Is this an AVX-512 capable machine? If so, then it is likely that the new AVX-512 FFTs are stressing your hardware past the breaking point.
You can verify this is the cause in the "run a weaker torture test" section of the dialog box. |

It is AVX capable, I have an Intel i7-9800x. If I remove my overclock and revert back to standard settings Prime95 v29.8 works without issue. Due to this I am almost 100% certain that it is related to my OC... What I am finding odd is that the previous versions of Prime95 did not seem to detect any issues? Are you saying that this version of Prime95 uses instructions sets that the previous versions did not?
Thanks for the fast reply BTW! |

Since AVX-512 is a newer technology not all computers have the correct voltage settings in the BIOS for AVX-512. Also your CPU cooling might not be powerful enough to handle AVX-512. Last fiddled with by ATH on 2019-05-19 at 20:39 |

Was just getting ready to post and say it looks like the newer version of Prime95 is using AVX-512 where as the other versions were not.
Thank you so much for the confirmation! |

Does the problem persist with AVX-512 disabled?
You can disable AVX-512 by setting CpuSupportsAVX512F=0 in your local.txt file. Last fiddled with by ixfd64 on 2019-05-21 at 23:11 |

Had to subscribe for this specific reason... I was running previous version for months doing LL and since I've updated to this latest version I have messages about Possible hardware errors have occuredduring the test!
I recently fine tuned settings on my 8700K CPU I now have for a year and a half and was suspecting this could be the issue (even if I had no issue anywhere else) but I reversed the settings and keep getting those error messages. I added CpuSupportsAVX512F=0 to the local.txt file but still the same issue. I've quickly searched to download the previous version but could not find it. |

You will get that message until the test completes. Either watch the count of errors that have occurred during the test or look in undoc.txt for a way to turn this message off -- then keep an eye on results.txt to make sure you aren't getting more hardware errors.

Had a few more errors this night... :-/
Where can I download previous version? I should not have overwritten old version with the new one and use a separate folder instead. |
