Hey,
Im only using prime95 for testing my system stability, at my great surprise, after only 3min of torture test i got failure ( in test3): FATAL ERROR: Final result was 26AF0156, expected: 5A6E22E0. Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file. I closed prime and run torture test again, so far 1 hour no errors ! SO does it mean prime95 bugs ? AND if it is in fact a hardware failure how to know if its ram, cpu or mobo ? AND is prime95 torture test OS problems independant ?, like how about if my winxp registry is messed up or old drivers and so on, can it cause erros in prime or prime erros are always like it say hardware failure ? 10x winxp pro xp2200+ built ati 9500 pro asus a7n8x-dx 1 module ocz 512megs PC2700 Rev 3.2 ( supposed to be 2-2-2, whereas in bios it says by spd like 7-4-4-2T ) |

Definitely not a bug in Prime95. When you run the torture test, it knows exactly what the final answer should be, and if you don't end up with that answer, then an error has occurred.
Almost all such errors are due to hardware problems. However, occasionally they can be caused by faulty video or sound drivers that do not properly restore the state of the FPU when returning from interrupt. |
