We all know that the Internet of Things is nothing new, technically speaking, but the marketing people have just discovered it and so it had to be given a new name.
A first case possibly meriting debate: Quote:

A few possible developments with smart cars:
Any garage wishing to service a smart car in the future will have to pay a high annual subscription to the manufacturer for privileged access to the onboard computer. The car's owner will not be the superuser, and will no longer have a free choice of garage. Cars will collect detailed information about the driver, which will be sold to anyone prepared to pay for it. The driver will receive nothing. The richest people will be able to pay to get preferential treatment at traffic lights, while most people will have to wait longer. |

He had been told authoritatively that the mission was of supreme importance. He reasoned, quite plausibly in my view, that the human crew were less likely to complete the mission than himself. Accordingly, he took steps to minimize the likelihood of mission failure. Arguably, his greatest failure was not to deal with Bowman effectively. |

Several serious thinkers are worried that the advancement of AI could cause problems for mankind... The more likely risk is we become too dependant upon critical infrastructure run by software written by stupid humans.... |

Research reveals that "wang-wang" refers to rich people in cities using flashing lights and sirens to bull their way through traffic. Apparently, NAIA frowns on line-jumping, at least in theory. **Nino Aquino International Airport. Last fiddled with by kladner on 2016-01-15 at 02:14 |

There is a story told that Queen Beatrix was travelling in a car with the French president through the centre of Paris and noticed that the traffic lights were magically changing to green as they approached. Apparently, she said that if she tried to arrange that in Amsterdam then there would be calls for a republic!

Haha, you started it in such a way that I though you are going to tell the one with Churchill and the queen traveling with the cart, when the horse farted... The queen said "Sorry, Winston", like the British politeness dictates, and he replied "No problem your majesty, if you would not say anything I would have been sure that it was the horse".
