The curious fact that all user pictures can be grouped into four types:
1. An animated alive object - a person, a movie character, an animal, a mythical creature or a robot, a personified image, etc.
2. Inanimate object, symbol or expression
3. Scene or view, composition of some things
4. Abstraction

Of course, there are user pictures that combine several types.

I have been observing this phenomenon for 15 years in various blogs and social networks and came to the conclusion that the choice of a custom picture is usually not random and reflects the psychological characteristics of its owner.

1. These are usually the most adequate users who are focused on communication. As a rule, extroverts who are quite satisfied with themselves are self-sufficient and generally positive.
2. Usually closed people, vulnerable or wounded. Introverts. Most of their reaction comes down to either confrontation or a struggle for some kind of righteousness.
3. Witnesses, not participants. Their activity is more of an observer rather than a participant. These are contemplators who do not delve deeply into what is happening. Time to time they share something, but they never take an active position.
4. These users, in principle, do not need society and feedback. The most complex psychological type of personality.

Greenskull... If I may please give you some advice...

1. Less is more.

2. You don't have to bat at every ball.

3. Sometimes others have things to say as well.

4. Be responsible for the Listening into which you are Speaking.

To date, your contributions have been somewhat saner than others.

At the same time, you are posting a lot... Please read more. Post less.

I hope that makes sense. Please see this thread on another Blog as an example of /trying/ to be minimalist (and failing badly).

There are several topics that interest me and which I propose to talk about. This is all temporary, since I will soon run out of them and will appear here once every six months.
Anyway, anyone can ignore it and that's it.
I don't want to seem better or worse than I am. I apologize if someone didn't like me.

Please don't apologize. Just please don't waste our time. Bring your best forward.

BTW... It is almost my trademark that people don't like me (at least, at the first encounter). I'm OK with that...

I read about you. There is a lot of information about you on the Internet.
I have a good impression of you. And I like your userpic.
For some time time I can't understand what it means -- If I may.
But now I think I understand - this is your trademark phrase, with which you start your objection :)

And I think the lounge is a place where we can waste our time. Is not it so?

I wonder what the choice of my user pic says about me?

You missed at least one category.

5. No picture.

And I suspect the pseudo-psychology analysis that followed is not too dissimilar to the standard horoscope fare of everything matches everyone to some degree, so it gives no useful value.

People have many dimensions, you can't simply put them into a box and label it with a limited set of attributes.

Well, that sounds nice. My avatar was picked for me many years ago; it was not my choice. However, I stuck with it so maybe that says something about me (or not).

Technically, the "no picture" category is undefined. He is talking about the user pictures, and what they say about the user. He is not talking about users and their pictures. It's a discussion about the properties of mapping from user pictures to users, not the other way. Those users without a picture don't apply.

I don't see why not. We can map "no picture" to a user, in the same way mapping "a picture" to a user. Even the empty set is a valid set.

Although the outcome is meaningless, but whatever.
