Default Web Site Suggestions and Corrections

The ElevenSmooth web site at http://www.mersenneforum.org/elevensmooth is adequate now. But every time I watch somebody new use the site, I learn about things that I forgot or that need a clearer explanation. I've been ffixing these things when I learn about them, but now I need more eyes and more feedback.

I want to make the web site a superb information resource, where people quickly and easily find whatever they want to know about ElevenSmooth. It will help if each of you will look and tell me what you want that isn't there. It will help a help even more if you will introduce somebody new to the site and watch. They'll ask you the questions they can't find answered on the site and you will see the things they eventually figured out with difficulty, too. Please relay all of that to me so I can improve the web site.

There are several frequently requested improvements that are coming. I've included a FAQ to describe and track these.

Well, in the first paragraph of http://home.earthlink.net/~elevensmooth/index.html the text "Factors Page" is linked to file:///A:/ElevenFactors.html

I would like to see a page with the numbers you are trying to factor using the client/server approach.

Fixed. Thanks.

There are 63 numbers, ranging from 149 digits to 6936 digits. I could list the primitives (M(1575), M(10080), etc). on the FAQ Page in several columns in the section on Project Questions. I don't want to maintain a list of decimal expansions, but we could include instructions to set up a slave server to get the latest decimal expansions.

How's that sound?

For me it is OK if you put the formulas on the Web page. It is nonsense to write a 6936-digit number if it can be expressed by a simple formula with less than 100 characters.

This is a very interesting project.

So you'd like to see listings like this:

(((((((2^(1155*48)+1)/(2^(385*48)+1))*(2^(77*48)+1))/
(2^(231*48)+1))*(2^(55*48)+1)*(2^(33*48)+1))/
((2^(165*48)+1)*(2^(11*48)+1)))*(2^(35*48)+1)*
(2^(21*48)+1)*(2^(15*48)+1)*(2^(1*48)+1))/
((2^(105*48)+1)*(2^(7*48)+1)*(2^(5*48)+1)*
(2^(3*48)+1))

I think it still needs a dedicated page.

It should also say the we ARE NOW listed, not "soon to be." Both fixed. Thanks for pointing it out.

I would like to see the size of the composite factored (which is not necessarily the primitive) in decimal digits and the values for B1 and B2 on the factors page.

That page is presently a full screen wide, at least on my monitor. Do you think we should scroll off to the right, or should we shrink the field for factors found enough to make it fit on one page. Shrinking the field would result in more factors ending "..." and being displayed in full in the notes.

I don't care if it scrolls to the right, but others might. What if you give two lines of info per factor?

Two lines would break the table sorting and make the table harder to scan by eye.

Would an separate table be better than an over-wide table?
