Default new results not propagating to mersenne.ca database?

Whenever a result is submitted to PrimeNet, the new information would normally appear in the mersenne.ca database after a few hours. However, my most recent results are not showing up there even though some of them were submitted to GIMPS more than 24 hours ago.

For example, I submitted (among other GPU to 72 results) a factor for M70,601,249 yesterday afternoon, but mersenne.ca still says no factor information is available: http://www.mersenne.ca/exponent/70601249

Anyone know what's going on?

I don't know how long results would normally take to get updated on the .ca site, but it looks like the issue goes back to around 10/12 or 10/13 with no updates since then.

mersenne.ca copies the data published by mersenne.org on an hourly basis or so. The server publishes all the recent finds. This used to work well. When user TJAOI or anyone else publishes a deluge of factors the server's pipeline flushes all the results except for the last 1.000 or so. On a multi month basis however the results are obtained through other means. You can submit your result manually directly to the mersenne.ca server.

It does now seem to be working pretty reliably, though the odd result does still get missed. I'd suggest that you go to the manual submission page here http://www.mersenne.ca/index.php?submitresults=1, copy the section which has missing entries from your results.txt file and paste them in, then submit. It doesn't matter if some of the results have got through OK as they'll just be ignored, any which haven't will be entered and appear in a short while. I've been using it myself to bring my results up to date on that data-base.

(trawling some older threads on a slow Saturday)...

A few days back, I dumped a file that had *all* of the factor info from the mersenne.org database and passed that over to James. He did some crunching on the data and got his database up to date, filling in a few gaps.

We're also going to (at some point) implement the idea of having daily XML files that contain all of the results checked in that day, so if James (or anyone else?) who crawls the site and grabs the data can snag those once a day, or even go back and grab a day that got missed for whatever reason.

It's true right now that the hourly report is limited to the past XX (I think 3000?) records, so if there is some massive dump of incoming data, it could exceed that and you're not really getting everything that came in. So, that method of grabbing results is inherently flawed, in that it was never guaranteed to include everything.

Once that new system is in place with daily XMLs, we'll announce it.
