Default Has anyone tried linear algebra on a Threadripper yet?

I would expect the dual-die approach with the split memory controllers to make it a bit slower than Haswell-E (and to provide some benefit from messing about with NUMA controls and MPI), but you have an awful lot of cores to drive those memory controllers.

(I won't be buying a new machine until March, but I notice the Intel lots-of-core-Xeons-at-less-absurd-price range has now officially appeared)

If you have something specific, I can run it on my machine (1950X @ 4.0 GHz).

Tom, do you have in mind NFS-style binary linear algebra, or floating-point LA a la Linpack benchmarks? The latter might have already been published either by the likes of one of the popular hardware magazines (e.g. Tomshardware or Anandtech), or perhaps by AMD itself. For NFS, you might approach our own David Stanfill (aka airsquirrels) about the possibility of running some kind of standard NFS-LA benchmark on his Threadripper, or providing you with guest-account access to same.
