Hi all
Every so often ( once or twice a week) i have to image 3 or 4 dualcore 3+ghz machines I usually have access for about 24hours at a time I was wondering what you think the best stradgy for getting work done would be currently i have 4 usb thumb drives that i run p95 from but i would like to go with something over the network ( however every time i try that p95 is dog slow) suggestions welcome |

Not every situation is suited for Prime95. Maybe you should try to find a project with shorter work units. If the computers have constant net access, I'd like to suggest Eon. Or, if you're fixated on the prime-finding projects, you could try Riesel Sieve. Lastly, if it must involve Prime95, what about the sub-projects?

It should not be dog slow over the network. There is something wrong in your setup if it is slow over the network. The only times Prime95 accesses the filesystem is at startup, shutdown, when a workunit finishes, when it communicates with the server and to write intermediate files. The intermediate file writes happen every 30 mins, definitely not enough to slow the computer down. Try and figure out what is slowing things down - or post the prime.ini and the setup.
