RSA contests are no longer active :(

Last month, RSA Labs announced that the RSA Factoring Challenge and the RC5 Secret-Key Challenge will no longer be active. The RSA numbers and RC5 blocks are still available; RSA will simply stop giving prizes for solving them.

Of course, people can still try cracking them as a challenge, but I'm not too sure that the computing costs would be worth it.

On the brighter side, more people might focus their computing power on finding new Mersenne primes!

The computing costs have never been worth it. The prizes have always been symbolic.
