But aside from that, there are still a (small) number of P-1 failures still occurring. I would guess that they're more hardware-failure than software-related, but I don't know enough to comment any more than that. |

Please add support for TF "no factor" results 2^32<p<10^10. There are 251,772,290 prime exponents in that range, and I want to be able to see how much TF has been run on such exponents without known factors. I see no reason why you couldn't add support for that. Without it, there's no way of knowing the progress on such exponents (unless a factor is found). Also, where on the Internet are people supposed to post results (factor or no factor) for exponents >10^10 (beyond Mersenne.ca's range) that aren't Double Mersennes? For example, M(10^10+19) or M(1111111111111111111). There needs to be a centralized place to put those as well - even if it's not on Mersenne.ca - as it would provide people (not just me) with a place to put such factors, given that Factor5 isn't limited to exponents <10^10.

TF in 1G-4G range does not record details for trivial efforts (less than 1GHz-day), and currently no detailed TF efforts above 4G are recorded, mostly for disk space / database size reasons. The effort to get the work to the 57-bit level was done by a very small group of reliable volunteers working in very large ranges taking entire 1G ranges to a higher bitlevel. I'm not prepared (yet) to open the 4G-10G range to public random contribution of NF results (which cannot be verified). TF-F results are fine since they are immediately verifiable. But in general I strongly discourage work above the 4G range for now. Quote:
