GPU72 has a very easy to use script to trial factor using Colab's free Tesla T4's (16 GB RAM). I was wondering if this couldn't be used for linear algebra. I usually get about 3 hours at least once per day, sometimes two times, i.e. getting 2-4 wavefront exponents from 76 to 77 bits, which is not bad for free.
The checkpoint data would have to be written somewhere, I'm also not sure how easy it is to store a large matrix permanently. If it's possible and someone is knowledgable and has the spare time to write a script that would be a really nice addition to NFS@home, I guess? Has this maybe even been attempted before? |

No idea if linear algebra has been attempted before on Google Colab.
But if its state, logs & code fit in 15GiB, storing checkpoint data could be done on free Google Drive. If more space is required, rent some additional space. Free Google drive is quite commonly used for storing GIMPS TF, P-1, LL or PRP work in progress between productive run periods, to resume from the next time, allowing stitching together runs requiring total GPU time of days, weeks, or longer. See https://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=24839 for some example code for those. Last fiddled with by kriesel on 2022-08-03 at 15:35 |

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
