![]() On some machines I give them a particular k value (starting from the bottom of the range I am testing) & then I can leave them to get on with it with little intervention. Other machines I take a k range (starting from the top of the range) and sort them by size & give the machines a couple of weeks work to do. This is a bit more labour intensive so I'm now wondering why I do this. The ones I am waiting for are in the first category where a slow machine or large file is allocated to a machine & is just going to take a while to finish. I wondered about taking them off & finishing them more quickly but I can't really be bothered as they will finish soon enough anyway. I guess that's the point of the second method so you don't get 1 machine stuck with weeks of work when the others have finished. |

Just in case anyone missed it, here is the Top 5000 project table as of about 11:44PM EST (Sat night) or 04:44 GMT Sunday.
Nice accomplishment for a team just basically filling in the holes. http://primes.utm.edu/bios/top20.php...nk&at=8&id=581 In case the numbers have changed, this is what it looked like rank project primes score 1 No Prime Left Behind (formerly: PrimeSearch) 956 48.1337 2 Riesel Prime Search 955 48.7282 3 PrimeGrid 807 49.6929 4 Prime Internet Eisenstein Search 161 46.7013 5 Free-DC's Prime Search 116 45.3565 6 15k*2^n-1 search 51 45.2680 7 Riesel Base 5 41 45.1530 8 Yves Gallot's GFN Search Project 37.5 47.2565 9 Riesel Sieve Project 31 48.3724 10 Conjectures 'R Us 25 44.8108 11 Generalized Woodall Prime Search 19 43.7155 12 12121 Search 16 46.5538 13 The Prime Sierpinski Problem 13 48.2316 13 Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search by Woltman & Kurowski 13 55.8432 15 Seventeen or Bust 11 51.3943 16 GFN 2^16 Sieving project 10.5 45.1779 17 Twin Prime Search 8.5 42.1877 17 321search 8.5 47.4915 19 GFN 2^15 Sieving project 5.5 43.5407 20 Mat's Prime Search 4 45.3451 Last fiddled with by MyDogBuster on 2009-06-28 at 03:58 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() OH YEAH!! Thank you to all of our dedicated searchers. And to think this was done while also running double-checks and filling in all non-top-5000 ranges as we went along. I couldn't ask for a finer group of technically competent and detailed-oriented individuals to help make this come true! I know someone had to tell me how to run my computers. lol Let's maintain that lead as long as we can! :-) Next target: To be the #1 non-BOINC project on top-5000 score! An upcoming drive later this year for k=300-400/n=1M-2M will help with that. Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2009-06-28 at 05:05 |

I have migrated my web pages from googlepages to the noprimeleftbehind site. This involved changing links to posted sieved files and downloadable programs here at NPLB. Let me know if you have any problems with them.
On another note, I will be out of town from later today (July 11th) to July 22nd. I'll be on but not as much as I would normally. Things have been quiet here but we've been crunching along and finding plenty of primes so I think Max, Ian, and Karsten will hold down the fort if I'm not on as much. ![]() Gary |

NPLB now owns 20% of the top 5000. To the best of my knowledge, we are the first project to ever accomplish such a feat. Attached is the screen shot. The feat was accomplished at about 19:50 CDT on Jul. 30th. (0:50 GMT on Jul. 31st)
It was a serious effort to keep pounding them out even as our myriad of lower primes were dropping off at a rapid pace. Congrats to all for a job well done! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last fiddled with by MyDogBuster on 2009-07-31 at 06:04 Reason: Fixed typo |

Awesome results kar_bon.
Kar_bon now owns the top 5 and 7 of the top 10. http://www.noprimeleftbehind.net/ind...core&type=desc The rest of us really need to lift our game ;) kar_bon: so 5 to go for the Top 10 for me! ![]() Last fiddled with by kar_bon on 2009-08-01 at 12:24 |

Ah well. Burst our bubble a little. lol Regardless, a great achievement for all 3 projects.
That's amazing that a single individual had 1000 primes at one time. That should be very difficult in today's day and age with highly efficiently run and automated prime search projects. Thanks for setting the record straight. Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2009-08-02 at 19:25 |

We are no longer #1
http://primes.utm.edu/bios/top20.php...nk&at=2&id=518 PG took over and we fell below our 1000 primes on the list. |
