Actually, I have given thought to renaming it Prime2006 or GIMPS2 or something else. I probably won't since there is so much momentum behind the prime95 name.

Will you be using an older version of C++?

I've tried to keep P05 exactly the same as the current version in all other respects, including the EULA and joining etc. I would yield the name as well.
Although, I don't want to confuse anyone about all this.
What should I do?

I'll be using visual studio 2005 - I've already got my copy

I don't know what programs you're planning on releasing. Don't worry about me as I'm 90% likely to keep using prime95. Just call me boring.

I know you've heard this before.....

Primenet 2.0 - new server software requires new client protocol. With the new server comes new work preferences - p-1 factoring, world-record LL testing, probably ECM. Server will track which clients are proven reliable and give them the lowest available exponents, probably some limited maintaining of program options with server web pages, user ids that are different than team ids. Communication with the server will be in its own thread.

This is still in its infancy. Lots left to do, no timetable yet.

True multi-threading. One LL test running on two cores or one prime95 client running two LL tests in two different threads.

Although I personally prefer that the name remains "Prime95" - there is a lot of sentimental value, ya know?

Just imagine how awkward the expression prime2006 would fit in 'Yo dude, wassup? Is your new box already primeninetyfived?' ;)

you could do something like prime06

the only problem i can think with that is it would make the older version seem way way more out of date than it would be.

but that may be a good thing in the long run as it would probably get more people to update.

i dont know mabey we could vote or something
