"PRP proof never uploaded"

My computer has just completed a PRP on exponent 117773653, and I noticed the above message in the 'exponent status' log. Have I done something wrong?

I did stop the app from starting work on the next exponent assigned to me - I want to give my none-too-powerful desktop a break from GIMPS - partly because during the recent hot spell we've been having, it was making the room far too warm!

But in doing so have I screwed up all the weeks of work on 117773653?

Thank you for being conscientious about it. I see from M117773653 status this run completed 2023-09-14 in prime95 v30.8b17. Is the app still displayed on the desktop, or did you exit it? IIRC the proof can be uploaded within 60 days, so there is some time to sort this out.

For the proof to upload automatically, Prime95 needs to run, but you may stop all assignments. It will then report when the upload is finished. Alternatively, you may drop that file here.

Thanks for advice. I think what I did wrong was close the app too soon, since I was planning to 'rest' my computer for a while. I reloaded the app but kept it in a 'stopped' state, and after about two hours the 'proof' file seems to have uploaded OK.

It might be as well if users were advised of this delay?

Now, hopefully it's over to someone else to work the magic on the proof file and verify the exponent. The maths involved in that process is too deep for me! I understand Fermat's Little Theorem just fine, but that's as far as my maths goes...

Thanks for the information. I'll look at the code to see if the proof upload can be triggered sooner, especially if the user has selected "Quit GIMPS".

And maybe a single option to stop workers now, and wait to exit program until after completing all available proof uploads. (Even if not quitting GIMPS, just taking a break on a system for whatever reason; heat; gaming; etc.)

Many gamers would not like that as uploads will cause latency. People playing online games, streaming, want an easy way to stop any uploading or CPU from being used. Exiting the application is the most natural way of doing that. I think it would be best to prompt the user if they want to upload any pending uploads when exiting the app.
