Or the responses to them. To some of us, myself emphatically included, what I call a dubious claim is like "Squirrel!!" Off we go on a mission to find a factor, or quote a proof, or whatever. It's exciting for the squirrel and good exercise for the dogs in pursuit.
(Working on that whole mature dog, "Yawn. Another squirrel. Pointless to respond. Maybe give the pups a turn." thing. But it sometimes leads to sniffing out something interesting or a new way to look at things. And there's no good approach known for squirrel-proofing that isn't a lot of work.)
