If the problem has not gone away... drop the frequency of the memory to 3000MHz. If it still fails turn off XMP.

You are correct....this thought occurred to me last night but I was already too tired to respond.

Sure will update! will run it tonight or day after!

BTW I ran 12 instances on Memtest with 3200 Mhz to test RAM over night....please see attached image of the results!

Does this reveal anything to you?

Each instance I let it run for a minimum of 400% coverage
Final tally:
One instance > 1100%
Two Instances > 800%
Nine Instances > 400%

There is a general problem:
  • There are instabilities that are only visible when using Prime95.
  • There are instabilities that are only visible when using y-cruncher.
  • There are instabilities that are only visible when using memtest.
  • There are instabilities that are only visible when using other software.

I had all of those four in the last few years. It could be that you never have problems in other software when Prime95 indicates problems. But this is still not recommended for rock stable daily usage.

I don't think you will ever see 90C on one of those processors. They start throttling at 85C.

For a Ryzen 3000 series CPU I think even 80C is too hot for long-term, reliable performance.

Phil

This is a desktop with plenty fans etc. Does this change anything regarding throttling?
I have 2 days to return some components ( without having to deal with warranty etc)

Do you think I have faulty components (or) am I misunderstanding what you are saying?

Pls advise
cheers

I would try a few DC tests.
If they match I'd be pretty confident.

Mind you; that will put you beyond return deadline.

Your call.

Yes, basically. But if lowering memory frequencies doesn't get your machine any more stable, I'd vote for a return. Doing a DC would be great, but as petrw1 says, it might take to long to complete before return date.

HELLO everyone (esp Paul and Wayne and the others who responded)

Granted that you guys have helped me a lot and we have tried many options

Granted I don't have time to do any further testing

Granted there was just 1 failure in a 19 hour Prime95 test period (though the failure was in the first couple hours)

Granted that the BSOD never happened again

I am going to take a risk and keep the CPU and MBD!

Is this a very very very bad idea or a somwhat bad idea? pls advise
