A thought not based on any testimony:
Why did the teacher prop the back door open? I bet the teacher went outside to have a smoke then all hell broke loose. I have worked in numerous places in which employees sneak cigarettes at the back of buildings because management doesn't like to present the image of idle employees gathered around the front entrances creating a gauntlet of nicotine vapors that visitors have to endure. |

The real WTF is it being totally normal for schools needing to lock themselves in during class because of the potential dangers of random teenagers, or anyone really, being permitted to have such weapons.
You are aware that other countries don't have this concern, right? Where teachers and students never have to do "active shooter" drills. ![]() |

No sorry, the real "That can't be right!" is that gun violence has surpassed automobiles as the number 1 cause of death of children in the good old USofA. Any nation that doesn't address the #1 killer of their children has some serious explaining to do.

Another disgusting factoid I just learned today about Uvalde shooting,
The squad of police that FINALLY went in and terminated the shooter were federal officers. Since they were federal, they didn't have to pay any attention to the orders of that local moron to wait. If they hadn't shown up, who knows how long it would have taken for any officer to go in? |

So... The "powers" that it is claimed "everyone" have a fundamental right to be afraid of were the ones who actually knew what to do. And did it. Knowing the risks. I have /heard/ that many parents begged the police to simply give them "kit", and the parents would do the job needed. The parents were willing to take the risk. The local police didn't like the "liability dimension". "It's a funny old world. |

In fact, the local yokels actually handcuffed one of the parents who was ready to charge the school. |

Also, keep an eye out for the ruling in the pending case New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen. We need every school to have a fortified single point of entry! Paid for by Federal funds, of course. That way, the kids can be mowed down when they're lined up outside, waiting to go in. No need for a gunman to rely on a door being propped open to gain entry to the building. Plus, Federal funding would give the Feds a lot of control over local school matters. |
