What has happened to http://www.nfsnet.org/? It has been completely unresponsive for a couple of weeks at least.
On a related note, http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~twomack/nfsnet.html was last updated over six months ago. NFSNET has made a bit of progress since then. Or should that be "thousands of bits of progress"? ![]() |

recent report of the factorization on 10,287- (which is post #93 on the current status thread). Not sure what's happened to nfsnet.org. -Bruce http://www.mersennewiki.org/index.php/NFSNET PS -- there's also 2,823+ done at about the same time as 2,823-. In 2011, Google still has a cache of the site.
Not so in Wikipedia. Someone there apparently decided that the NFSNet Wiki entry was dyslexic and redirected it to NSFNet. NFS pages still have references to the project, which now are very confusing to a potential reader. |

The impression I have is that NFSnet is dead; there are lots of factorisations done by nfs@home but they are being reported at their site. I've removed the wikipedia references.

For all practical purposes, NFSNet has been replaced by nfs@home. For the last year of its activity, Greg and Bruce were contributing most of the sieving and post processing computations. Since Greg seems to be running the nfs@home server successfully, there is no real value that the NFSNet server structure would add to his operation and I have no way to compete with the greater bandwidth and processing capabilities that he has available.
If anyone has a compelling reason to resurrect the NFSNet, please let me know. Richard |

Seems like NFSNet is dead. Would it be prudent for a moderator/admin to move this entire sub forum to the Archived Projects?
