Well, believe it or not, we DO have a human receptionist (actually, a pretty and clever one ). First, it is the custom (not only in Thai, but in other Asian countries too), to be met by somebody in person, when you come to visit or call us, and second, workforce is much cheaper here, companies can afford a whole team for the money you pay there for a single person...

And a good thing it is, too. Of course, even with your company, you have indicated that callers can go ahead and enter an extension if they know it.

I am generally resigned to having to deal with "phone trees" when trying to resolve service problems. My objective is generally to talk to a human being as quickly as possible. It used to be that you could often get a human "representative" by entering 0 instead of numbers from starting with 1 for various kinds of problems, but that "defect" has been "corrected" in most phone trees I've dealt with.

The intent was to focus on the person's ability and character rather than their looks.
It is hard enough to get females to join us here without it appearing like a bunch of dudes leering at them.
