garo, i understand you not wanting to manage 0.05M ranges, but i dont mean that we should take out ranges that small and TF them to like 59 or 60 bits, because that could be done in a matter of hours. im mainly talking about tf'ing to 2^64 which on my machine takes around 3 days per exponent in the 33M range (or it could be the 55M range, im not sure) but it really doesnt matter. the thing is that a completion of a 0.05M range to 2^64 would take a considerable amount of time and wouldnt have to be updated on this site for weeks or maybe months at a time.
that is all :) |

I don't think it should be a problem if someone reserves a small range in the main thread and creates a sub thread to coordinate this

No cheesehead. I started the coordination a few weeks after LMH moved to the forum. Before that Henk (tha) was doing the coordination. Not that there is much to do other than editing the post and bugging people who step on others toes.
antiroach/smh, I have no problems with small ranges per se. As I mentioned in my previous post, if you make sure that your range will last at least a month, make it as small and as deep as you want. Frequent reservations/unreservation etc. can be confusing and hard to keep up, that's all. And I'm not trying to lay down the law. I'm just saying it would be a good idea if we all tried to take at least a month worth of work each time. If occasionally you have to take a smaller range, I'm NOT going to thrrow a fit:) PS: antiroach you should ask Xyzzy to make you a mod as well so you can edit the thread too. Garo |
