That was exactly what I was going to say... The images "unuploaded"!

Question

One question concerning the website of the 100mdpp:

In the first table, a column header reads "primes in range". Are these really primes or only candidates?

edit:
And the first column header of the last table is: ExpExponent...

I think not. It was UncWillys undoing, but I've changed it now anyway

Hi, great work!

Now, if only OBD and 100MDPP could show the new Factor4 program...

Question A call for help (or feedback at least)

Hi, I feel this thread needs some kind of status update.
My "guide-project" has been on standby since somewhere in October...

The main reason for that I'm not working on it anymore are the following:
1) Lots of other stuff to do (I've been working on several non-DC projects on the Internet)
2) Lots of homework (who said school was fun?)
3) Got tired of using Geocities as provider.
4) Lack of feedback

You don't have to feel obliged to give feedback, but I have only heard from ~10 people who said that they found the guides helpful. That gave me the impression that the guidemaking was not needed and made me cease working on it.

However - partly due to an email I received, which showed me that people are apparently still using the guides - I'm willing to start working on the project again.

The reason I say "project" is that I hope that the guidepages will someday evolve into a full-scale "Distributed Computing Documentation Project" (or something).
Like Kirk Pearson is maintaining an index of all projects and their respective progess and achievements, I hope that I (and hopefully other likewise minded people) might be able to provide a central place for easy instructions on all DC projects - or at least as many of them as possible.
As for documentation, I could probably help with much of it (and maybe get the PCs (Project Coordinators) to proofread it - if they are interested). But I would still need help with things like
* Where to place? I really don't want to continue using Geocities.
* Design. As you have probably already noticed, I suck at the layout. Someone with knowledge of WYSIWYG-editors or something else would be very nice to have.
* A lot of other things - after all Rome wasn't built on one day.

I know that Mersennewiki.org exists, but (as the name indicates) is primarily focusing on GIMPS. I don't even have a guide to GIMPS on the guidepages.

If any of you think that the idea of a "Documentation Project" is good, please reply. Also please reply if you think the idea is screwed - as well as why you think that.
It would be nice to have some feedback before deciding what to do.

Replies here would be much appreciated.

OmbooHankvald

P.S. I haven't proofread this post so if something here doesn't make sense, please say so!

I think a Wiki is a great idea. There are a lot of projects out there where people would love to jump in, but don't know what to do.

As for exposure, have you thought about writing to the guy who maintains http://www.distributedcomputing.info website?

Hmm... Maybe the DciWiki would be the place to host the guides...
It is purposed to contain translations of dc.info but I guess it could also be the perfect place for the guides...

I'm not sure here.

Once you all have a Wiki set up, I will certainly put it in the DC forum and let Kirk know that you want it in the project entry. Just make sure you are very exact so I know what to tell him.

Too many wiki's give me a headache, so I've proposed a resolution to Kirk.
