I've never seen an option in Prime95 for "Finish current assignments and report the results to PrimeNet but don't request new work".
Let's say someone has a quad core machine that they run in the winter but then in the summer it generates too much heat and they need to shut it down. Has anyone come up with a graceful way to let a machine finish it's 4 assignments that all end on different dates and not request any new work? Thanks |

I think you can do this by going to Advanced > Quit GIMPS... and selecting the "Quit after current work" option.

I never tried the "Quit GIMPS..." option. It sounds so permanent like you are getting rid of your entire account but now that I hold my mouse over it the status bar says "Remove this computer..."
I'll give it a try in June. |

you can do a bit better than just quit. edit prime.txt and add (in the first section, before any [...])
Code:
DaysOfWork=0 Last fiddled with by Batalov on 2010-02-11 at 07:05 Reason: it will. I use(d) it for Five-or-Bust + another thread with old obligations |

But won't that make it keep getting new work after the current stuff is done, albeit just one assignment at a time per core (which is all it would do anyway for LL tests normally; a difference would mainly show up with TF or other such smaller things)?

Doesn't it work anymore if you just add to prime.txt the following line?
Code:
NoMoreWork=1 |
