FTR my Antivirus software just reported that it blocked a suspicious activity by WhyNotWin11.

Can a Mod please remove the links and references in post-1.

If you have run the software already please note the warning.

It wouldn't surprise me if it is an oversensitive AV complaining because it is doing fairly invasive checks.

Well, the thing is I did not have a warning the 1st time I ran the program (Or at least I can't remember to).
There are not any other complaints indexed by google anywhere so far.

Indeed.
Most antivirus software do not like administrative tools (which they often categorise as hack tools.) Just try to retrieve the serial numbers of the installed software : most of the tools will be blocked by the "antivirus" software.

ETA: If win-11 can run on a Guest-Virtual-Machine and not on its host would indicate that lack of functionality on the host is by design and probably without any (proper) justification.

I own two Windows 11–compatible computers (a Lenovo laptop and my custom PC, both on AMD Zen 2) and upgraded both, just out of habit / because it was available. I am a very "casual" user (usually don't run anything more interesting than GIMPS software) so my insights are limited, but I have not seen anything that would cause me to recommend anyone to upgrade. The only noticeable changes seem to be in cosmetics and UX, and even there, nothing is exactly groundbreaking.

I run Prime95 P-1 and LL, GPUOwl LL, and MFaktC. If any performance improvement or slowdown has occurred in any of these, it has certainly been too small for me to notice. In very early releases Microsoft apparently made some kind of L3 cache management mistake with Zen CPUs, which severely cut my Prime95 performance (by about half), but this has been fixed in shipping versions for at least a month or so.

I will say that Windows 11 seems to like using more RAM at system idle. This is almost a non-issue because space will still be freed up if something actually needs RAM, but 11 seems to take longer to do this than 10 did. In my laptop, I have 13 GB RAM allocated to Prime95 out of 16 GB installed (one worker) and it can take a full minute or two for memory usage to stabilize after P-1 stage 2 starts. This is with no other programs running except MFaktC.

Thanks for the eval. My "build" would probably be compatible if I reformat the hard-disk to the non-legacy format, but the endpoint does not seem to justify the effort. I am downloading the free Virtual-Box evaluation. Perhaps I will get around to running it at some point.
