For those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, I'm guessing that most of you could not celebrate with family. This means that many of you likely did not get to enjoy some of the traditional dishes that your family shares. So the question to you is this, "What Thanksgiving food did you not get to eat this year because covid kept you from a large family gathering?"
I missed the sweet potatoes with marshmallows and rolls. |

All of it. Usual would be 12 lb turkey, stuffing, cranberries, green bean casserole, yams, beets, baked potato, lettuce salad, jello with fruit and mini marshmallows in it, black olives, corn bread muffins, pumpkin pie. Conversation and football watching that turns into a nap. Then reload for a second meal, and divide leftovers, sending half home with my son.
Did not speak to or share space with a human that day. Had a ham sandwich & apple for lunch, and a hot dog and apple pie in the evening, and tried out a newly repaired chain saw between, as part of an all-day excursion. (Worked ok, on a fallen tree trunk too thick for the 20" bar to span with one cut.) Last fiddled with by kriesel on 2020-11-27 at 18:53 |

I celebrate Thanksgiving. Why else would I create the other Thanksgiving thread?

However, I noticed this morning that some friends and relatives had deviled eggs at their Turkey Day meals, but we did not. If deviled eggs are wrong, I don't want to be right. |

When you get old, like me, and have virtually no family left, a person sometimes deals with it like any other day of the week. I had my usual fare and Cat Levi had his. No regrets.

It can be a good occasion to attend some volunteer organization's event and donate. This year, not so much though. They tend this year to be drive-through boxed meals instead of the usual communal sit-down. It's really playing havoc with the Friday fish fry and other fundraisers.

We decided to turn our Christmas meal into a second Thanksgiving. The foods that we didn't get to enjoy on Thanksgiving we will be enjoying today. Yum!
