No. The rig has 8 RX580 with modified custom BIOS, each 90Watts.


But the problem is not the power, the problem is having 2 switching psu in parallel.

Did you connect the power supplies using something like this connector linked below?
I have 3 of these ( in 3 systems, of course ) and they work great.

Yes something similar. But the fire was on the mainboard.

I see the picture. The eight input connectors supply 75W each to the PCIe slots. Any additional 6/8 pins the GPU requires should use cables directly from PSU to GPU if possible. Now that you've clarified that the other 8 are outputs it makes sense, they exist so that cheaper PSU's with less connectors can be used by splitting the input power between PCIe slot and a 6/8 pin, which is not ideal but fine for anything but high draw cards. If the R7 works in gen 2 slots I see no reason why it wouldn't work on this board, just do PSU to mainboard input for PCIe slot power, PSU to GPU for the two 8 pins, and forget about the outputs on the mainboard.

My goal was to actually reduce the number of PSU to 1. The one PSU is over sized so that it runs at lower than 80% capacity.


There are a number of factors that impede the usage of such high draw boards, one is the work temperature.

System reinstalled:
- Ubuntu 18.04
- amdgpu-pro 19.30


- gpuowl needs NO_ASM
- faster with OLD_FFT8 ?? but other options produce small variations
