Question error prime 95

When I am running a custom torture test on my new PC:
prescott 3.0 Ghz
512MB ddr 400 Kingston
club3d 6600GT
MSI 915P combo
Maxtor 160 GB , IDE
Qtec 550 WAtt dual fan

Prime 95 gives me this error: FATAL ERROR Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 4.

I did memtest86 for 5.5 hours , no errors. Some say that I have tot do it 12 hours... Does anyone know what other things might have to deal with this error..

If reducing the clock speed helps then it is probably CPU, memory or power supply related. If running in Windows safe mode (or better yet running from a Linux boot floppy helps then it is probably driver or peripheral related.

When I set my memory ( RAM ) from 400mhz to 333mhz prime 95 doesn`t gives any errors.... But is that normal ? I mean I buyed a 400 mhz DDR-RAM ( 512 mb kingston ) and I have to reduce the speed to 333hmz.... before it works good.

Maybe latencies are not detected properly, so the memory module is still out of spec, although the clock rate is right?

If everything is in spec, you should try to test another PC400 module to make sure it's indeed the memory and not the mainboard, for example...
