Hello...Over the past few months, I have yet to figure out my problem with my computer during gameplay. My first Power Color 9700 Pro went bad, so I got a new one. At first everything seemed great, until my friend asked me why his mobile 9600 64mb was getting twice as much FPS and he had all his AA settings to 4X and texture up all the way. I on the other hand had only AA on 2X and everything else on application preference. I thought, that is odd. Whenever I turned up my texture setting, My games would get super laggy and i would get red and blue artifacts on certain textures in Desert Combat. I figured it was my VPU, then I noticed on CPU-Z my AGP read as 2X while my ATI Control Panel read it as 8X. I passed the CPU stress test (Prime95) for 12 hours, but my computer froze on both of the Prime95 tests that required RAM. Then, I ran Memtest86 for 12 hours with no errors. All my drivers are up to date. Now, I freeze during all games....even during old games with High FPS. I can't figure out if its a motherboard problem or a graphics card problem. I read that hardware problems could b/c of my PS. My power supply is only giving off 11.74V instead of 12. Could someone give me some advice as to what to do? I would be most appreciative. Thanks
Here are my specs 2.4C @ 2880Mhz Radeon 9700 Pro P4S800 (Asus) 1024MB PC3200-1 stick of Geil, 1 stick of Kingston Audigy 5.1 Sound Card Thermaltake Silent Purepower (480 W) |

Try lowering the CPU speed. Also, check the fans, case and teh heatsink for dust that might have built up contributing to overheating.

Lowering the CPU speed fixed the Prime95 Blend problem...is this due to a lack of vcore voltage? Thanks for helping me out with that. My comp is dustfree, but i'm stil having a problems with my VPU. Anyone have any ideas with that or do you think it is just a bad card? THANKS

OK, that means that your card is absolutly normal. In wich did this occur? And is it this way in all games?

Well, first off...my 3dmark03 freezes about half the time I run it. Desert Comabt/BF 1942 gets the send/don't send windows error sometimes, plus I see artifacts on certain objects in that game. If I put textures up all the way on BF1942 I get artifacts like crazy, it looks like everything was hit with paintballs. This is the same with BF Vietnam and the Point of Existence mod with that game. In order for me to run Unreal Tourament 2004 at a good framerate (50-60FPS), I have to put every setting to low. This strikes me as very odd, b/c I know Unreal is one of the best games for FPS. Is a Intel at 2.8Ghz with a Radeon 9700 Pro not capable of putting up any settings? I would like to stress once again, my friend has an Emachines Laptop with a Athlon 64 3200 and a Radeon 9600 64MB...and he puts all his settings up to highest plus his AA and A at 4X, and gets twice the framerate. I don't quite understand. Thanks for your help.

the newest 3d mark is very demanding on your vid card scores will be lower just look at hte min requirements i mean u need a 2.0 ghz p4 just for the min req so the new 3d mark is more system intensive. go google scores for ur same video card.

Sorry about the confusion. I did mean 3dmark03 (the newest version of 03...i think its like 3.5). Its interesting that you mentioned an overclock problem, b/c my original Video Card was a nonpro 9700. When that one broke, I was shipped a new one that my computer recognizes as a 9700 Pro. But, from what i have read my clock and memory speeds do not match up with the Real 9700 Pro. Is this common? Or might there be a mistake in the card. Thanks for all your guys' replies. They are most appreciated. Here is the clock and memory speeds-297/263.25.
