You know you're asking for it, right?

Use Linux! (Or BSD!)

Do WHAT on your tongue?

No, seriously, Romanian is hard...

Edit: We use "knock on wood" or tell one "not to tempt Fate". If it happens, the speaker "Jinxed" it.

Haha! Very close! I should have been thinking that it comes into my language from Russian (in fact, any culture might have something equivalent in its language).

I'll switch to linux if my "things" disappear... namely:

OS based oc'ing utilities, not BIOS.
Some damn way to do multi-gpu on AMD cards... it only shows the "main" one.
Tempature control/check? Yes, I know of lm-sensors, but it seemed too complicated.. and I couldn't get it to recognize all my temperatures.

All above that aside though, I really like linux "in general".

Actually the more annoying thing is GIMPS through no fault of its own lost my Effective P4 rate which for this pC defaults to about 30% of what it should be. And it takes about a month before the rolling average gets it right again. Meantime all my estimated completion dates are way off!!!

Default Linux solves all problems? you wish!

Be aware that the opposite problem exists, too.

NVidia drivers for linux used to have a flag for enabling the passing the OCing parameters (memory freq, main freq) to the card (Option "Coolbits" "1"), and then they were all disabled. So one cannot neither overclock nor downclock their card. That's NVidia for you; the driver is closed-sourced, too.
