Dear All,
Le Mao-hua has ertten some papers on mersenne numbers. Like The Prime Divisors of Generalized Mersenne Numbers Estimation of the number of prime factors of Mersenne numbers and On Mersenne Numbers These 3 papers are referenced by some papers, unfortunately All of them are not available online. Can anybody help? |

There is nothing in that chinese paper which can't be found on other prime pages. The guy call numbers (b^n-1)/(b-1) "generalized mersenne numbers" and shows that their factors have the known structure. As an observation, we call this "repunits in base b" and this is just "one of many" different mersenne number's generalization. You can google "solinas gmn" or so, the wike articles contain links to those papers.
