I guess its just not so important to me to protect the identity of the finder until it is verified. Anyway, I won't be the one to spill the beans. The only thing I will say is that if I am correct, it is not a 10 million digit candidate. Hopefully George will post a response.

Good hunting all!

It was a doublecheck. Here are the lines from the latest hrf3.txt for any of the 14 exponents.

14976869,S58414,CF66C76BE,WX1,00000000
14976869,SithWizard,C5D37030A,Wc1,00000000

17793667,mpokorny,CD557F4C6,WX2,00000000
34569637,JC_Herles,CBDF11E4D,WZ2,04000502

With that error code, 34569637 would have been re-released as a "first-time" test. In this case, the newer result seems to match...

Congrats to GIMPS on a new prime!

BTW, if it has less than 10M digits the question is whether it's M44 at all? If n<30402457 than it's M43 There are now 3 "valid" candidates for both M43 and M44 with less than 10M digits.

Too much secrecy if you ask me...

I hope i can reverse this... I better start reading the manual.
Hint: $30 device found at CVS and Rite-aid; it's 04 key was brute forced 2 months ago. My guess + dead beaf.

Default Hurrah for GIMPS!!

I would not be very surprised if this new Mersenne prime woud be smaller than the present M43... but whatever its size really is, I wish it will be verified soon, and, then, Hurrah for GIMPS and all its participants!!

Congratz so far, and congrats if indeed the number is prime. We just have to sit and wait for the verification results. Curious where it will be..
It even could be M40 is it is the 149..... number.

Default Verification started

Verification has started on a Bull Novascale Itanium2 machine with 16x 1.5 GHz CPUs and GLucas-PThreads.
GLucas runs alone on the machine. Should be fast.

I would suggest that since George has changed the banner, it is larger than the last. See attached

Maybe it was more convenient that way than writing: "Finding 9 world record primes and one almost-world-record prime because we found it out of sequence"
