Try using VBITS=384 (or 256 if 384 uses too much memory). It should be a bit faster.

Thanks  good to know for the future, though I probably won't restart this job now. (I asked over in the msieve LA thread how to determine reasonable values for VBITS and block_nzz, other than "trial and error" )
