So, for the first time this year, the Barbados Hash House Harriers hosted an event yesterday. Constrained to no more than 100 persons (an audit trail was generated for this)...

It was ***great*** getting out and walking 4.78 KM in a single go. WMBO ran something like 8.63 KM.

And, then, the "down-downs". Very carefully managed, of course.

To share... I ***love*** living in Barbados. Layed back, but at the same time, ***very*** serious people!

The picture shows about a 40/60 split of dark to light skin. Isn't the population closer to 95/5 for skin color? Have you all worked toward getting your numbers so your group reflects the country's tone? Your country has sent some significant competitors to the Olympics, but recreation is a different thing.

Yes, more Crackers (read: poor white people) run the Hash compared to Black people. And, yes, approximately 95% of the BB population is "dark".

The evidence you've observed could be expected based on the small sample set...

To be honest, almost no one here in Barbados actually "sees" colour.

Or, to be more accurate, an entities' skin colour is about as important as their eye colour, hair colour, sexual orientation or voice-print accent.

Anyone who happens to find themselves in Barbados next Saturday and would like to participate in a communal exercise, you are more than welcome!

Nice! I wonder how strict the lockdowns were in Barbados over the past year.

In the U.S., the pandemic running scene is a total grab bag. Some states allowed races and spectators as early as February (https://www.mersenneforum.org/showpo...&postcount=970 ) , while other states banned most races until May, and the few that were allowed to take place prohibited spectators from attending and required athletes and coaches to provide a negative PCR test within 48-72 hours of competition.

Wheezing My Butt Off? Despite training on a regular basis, I have a hard time racing anything longer than 1.5 KM*. The longer the distance is, the worse I get, and 8.63 KM sounds like too much pain and suffering for too long

A 4:39 1500m is a 4:59 min/mile pace. There are around 23,000 American high schoolers who run faster than that each year, so it's an OK time:
