Default IRC channel

I wonder how many people still use IRC here. The channel #gimps on Freenode is unregistered and I'm the only one there so far. Or is there no need for a chat?
Anyway, the easiest way to join is via https://webchat.freenode.net/ and type /join #gimps, or click ... next to Freenode and then on +.

Of course there are cross-platform IRC clients as well such as: https://quassel-irc.org/downloads
Server address: chat.freenode.net
Port: 6697, or 6665 for non-SSL.

How to connect: https://freenode.net/kb/answer/chat

Perhaps I should drop by.

I'm pretty much all the time on IRC... but on IRCnet, not Freenode.

My IRC client is always running, it doesn't mean one has to chat constantly. A chat is convenient because sometimes something isn't important enough to make a forum post, but important enough to ask.

I'm both on EsperNet and Freenode; you can connect to multiple networks simultaneously.

Sure, it can be done, and I've done it in the past. I've just found, that although it isn't that much of a hassle (in irssi) to have multiple networks running, over a longer period of time I still tend to drop the servers that have only only one channel that I'm on, until I'm left with just one server.

Anyway, joined the channel, there just doesn't seem to be anyone else on it right now. But I'll leave my IRC client idling there, just in case.
