GIMPS Milestones reports that all tests below M(43 112 609) are verified now. However, I do not see any official announcements anywhere. What happened to the M(43 112 609)?

I think the primary PrimeNet operator has been indisposed for several days. When he returns the milestone will be noticed and properly shared.

Oh, I didn't think about putting a blurb on the home page. I updated the milestone page (I actually tested the last two <43M on my home system so I definitely knew when they were finished).

I've been busier than usual the past few days so I haven't been keeping up with the forum here. I'll get the home page updated shortly with the same blurb we had for M46's proof.

And... done. I made note of the curious order that M47 was discovered, highlighting the fact that, when it was found, it was actually the 45th known Mersenne prime.

If I got any of the facts wrong there, bug me about it so I can fix it. I thought it'd be fun to point out the other couple cases where Mersenne primes were discovered out of order and I hope I got the anecdotes right.

The Mersenne Primes: History, Theorems and Lists page has question marks for M(42643801) (officially declared 46th Mersenne prime in posting dated February 22, 2018) and M(43112609) (officially declared 47th Mersenne prime in posting dated April 8, 2018).

In the M47 announcement, note that it is "almost 10 years" between the discovery of M47 and its proof of place, rather than "almost 9 years" as the article now is written. Just looks like a simple typo induced by copying-and-pasting from the previous announcement.

They should have changed the Pershing to the M26/M46 and add the M46 needle turret to the Pershing and have the M47 as the tier 9 medium. The Pershing's 2nd turret adds nothing but a cosmetic change an the M46 upgraded turret wouldn't make the Pershing OP. M47 would have been the same as what the M46 is now, but have decent hull armor that can't be penned tier 5 guns. But hey i still love my M46 however that is just what i would have preferred.
