Hi all.
My PC started to beep and the program told me "new mersenne prime found"
What do i have to do now?

Just submit the result to primenet. In Prime95 [Advanced]-> [Manual Communication]

You should also email the results.txt file to me at woltman@alum.mit.edu

You'll also find a huge save file (pXXXXXXX) in your prime95 folder. Email that as well.

One other thing. If the exponent is below 500 then don't bother (and sorry for the false alarm). There was a bug in the early versions of 24.6 that reported 2^11-1 as a new Mersenne prime. Probably other small exponents too.

How do you know this is not a new Mersenne prime? He didn't say it was a small exponent.

Please let us know about it as soon as you have info available. Is it over 10,000,000 digits, how long until a verification run is completed, etc.

USL (actually ASL) stands for Unità (or Azienda) Sanitaria Locale; it may be badly translated as "local health unit" (or firm). Our Department of Health has a number of distributed offices over the territory, divided into sets each depending by a "region" (like a small "state" in the Country).

The above address comes from region "Toscana". and office "USL 3".

The document is a public contract to create lists of professionals for professional jobs. It's not spam, as they have the general approval of a regulation from a decreet of our President.

You may see it as a "register of professionals" whose purpose is to create a list of persons to contact for jobs related to the Government. Bureaucracy.

Anyway, I tried to (provately) contact Mr. Pieraccioli by email, but I have no answers yet.

Thanks for the translation.

I guess this means that Mr. Pieraccioli works for the Department of Health then, or at least that's my best guess.

I've tried searching for "pieraccioli" on both the Primenet and GIMPS database. I didn't find any matching usernames.
