Cannot download the install file for Prime95

Hi there.

I've tried to download Prime95 on like 6 different occasions now, and every single time the same funky thing happens: the download progress bar zips to ~800KB (give or take a few) and then just... stops. The little "page on a journey to the planet Earth" animation will literally go on until the end of the universe if I don't click Cancel.

It does this in Firefox. It does this in Internet Explorer. It does this if I use the HTTP link, it does it with the FTP link. It does this if everything is running, it does this if nothing is running. It does it in the morning, it does it in the evening. And I have absolutely no trouble downloading any other files I encounter on the Internet.

Does anyone have any clue why my computer would always get loopy after downloading 80% of Prime95's .exe file?

It could be the download failed the first time you tried, and now you need to clear your temporary internet files to get rid of that failed download.

I assume you want Prime95 24.14 for Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP, I just downloaded it and put it here:
p95v2414.exe

It might work for you from another site.

Well, an inquiring mind could (a) download that file and see what's in it, or (b) note the number of posts made so far by Xyzzy, then consider his propensity for changing various numbers and text in this forum.

Well... I'm not that clever, but I did twig to the whole "maybe I should just try downloading it from somewhere else" thing (lol) and successfully got v. 25.5 off Softpedia ~2 hours after I posted my thread.

But my post was still waiting for "administrator approval" and so when I tried to come back & close the thread along with a sheepish message, I was told it didn't exist yet. Or something. Oh well.

Thank you for your help ATH, and thank you for your thrilling booby pictures, Xyzzy. They kept me warm and cozy during my long and fretful hours of stress-testing my (thankfully 100% okay!!) CPU-RAM interface. & that download mirror thread should really be stickied... although maybe it is, I looked but I'm also kind of oblivious.

You should run v24.14 or v25.6
25.5 is out moded
