The exact count originally appearing in the article was 9446. Right now, including the latest one from unconnected, we are currently at 9254. That's right, we are within 8 terminations or merges of bringing the OE count down by a whopping 200!!! And in just two years time! I want everyone to get their motors revved up and get started terminating! (If only it were that easy.....) 2011-07-26, 15:06 #2 10metreh     Nov 2008 2·33·43 Posts At this rate, they'll all be gone in 100 or so years' time. Can someone please thaw me out of cryogenic preservation for the day that the last sequence below 1000000 terminates? Of course, the rate will probably slow down... Oh, and sorry about the deletion of the initial statement in your post - I only do 10^n milestones, not k*10^n with 1

Are you using firefox together with the NoScript addon? (or a similar scriptblocker or scriptblocking option for another browser) Maybe the widgets are doing nothing because you have not allowed the mersenneforum to run javascript?

Internet Explorer as well.
@Schickel Have you installed a new virus checker lately(one also doing things like pop-up blocking, flash blocking etc)?

Good news on the milestone. Have we the ability to produce statistics like how many sequences have a particular driver etc? Schickel produced lists of sequences which might lose a particular driver which might do it.

Well, I thought it was interesting that I checked it on the spur of the moment ~2 years after your little dustup with Gandalf61 and we were close to 200 terminations. If $k$ has to be >10, I guess I'll repost about this when we hit 1000 terminations.

At the current rate, I'll get back to you sometime around the summer of 2019!

Or, we could throw a party when we hit 9000 open sequences, sometime around the end of 2013.....

I'm currently pulling a survey of everything right now. (I'm a lazy programmer, I got something working that just pulls everything on all the OE sequences, so it puts a bit of a load on the DB and takes some time....)

I can get a list of which is controlled by what, but be prepared to very depressed. (Keep some Zoloft handy....)

OK, here's what things look like as of 26 Jul 2011.

Currently active sequences 9254.

Count of sequences under driver control:
Code:
2 3 0.03%
2 * 3 pure 816 8.81%
w/3^N, N>1 597 6.45%
2^2 * 7 2646 28.59%
2^3 * 3 737 7.96%
2^3 * 3 * 5 1277 13.80%
2^4 * 31 888 9.60%
2^5 * 3 * 7 349 3.77%
2^6 * 127 267 2.89%
2^9 * 3 * 11 * 31 1 0.01%
------
Total under driver control 81.91%
Not specified above are sequences that are not driver controlled but have a "3" and sequences that currently have a guide composed of a partial driver (2^3 * 5 or 2^5 * 7, for example). These will tend to increase pretty quickly....

Sequences with just 2^N and no other small factors: 77 (0.83%)

Sequences with a high power of 2:
Code:
620274 934. sz 115 2^10 * 3 * 31 * 1171
589212 1035. sz 117 2^10 * 3 * 5 * 23 * 103
43980 908. sz 116 2^10 * 3 * 5 * 233 * 373
414480 507. sz 114 2^10 * 3 * 61
622830 871. sz 116 2^10 * 3^3 * 7
426582 1900. sz 111 2^10 * 5
872430 963. sz 111 2^10 * 5
270504 1838. sz 111 2^11 * 13
550110 401. sz 134 2^11 * 3 * 7
806472 742. sz 113 2^15 * 3^2
I've uploaded a current file containing all sequences sorted by driver/guide. It's available here:
ftp://ftp.frontiernet.net/pub/users/...ftp/AllSeq.zip

Here's a copy of schickel's file sorted by length instead of driver/guide.
Looking at the list, 933436 (the longest single sequence) doesn't seem to have been worked on for a while, even though it is only at 110 digits. Unconnected, have you worked further than the DB shows, or is it on hold?
