What is the current status of the project? yoyo@home has found at least four factors recently (i.e. in the last few months of 2011), but the latest update of the elevensmooth homepage seems to date back to may 2009...

Yeah.

Yoyo is about done with the current list of ElevenSmooth numbers. There is a backlog of found factors and factoring extent to document. The machine running the ECM server died and hasn't been replaced. I'll be putting some time into updates "real soon now," partly to update things and partly to prepare the next batch for yoyo.

I don't have much time for the ElevenSmooth project, but ECM is steadily advancing thanks to yoyo@home. I have updated the Factors page and the Progress page. We have found 16 ECM factors since the last update and finished three algebraic factors. The biggest change is that we are now working on many more of the algebraic factors. Previously most of the algebraic factors came from 21663200-1. I have extended the list to include factors from 21663200+1. Yoyo extended the size of numbers he can handle, so I also added some of the larger numbers. I'm currently bringing the added numbers into line with the ECM level of similar sized older numbers. You can watch this progress by the groupings on the Progress page.

One new factor since the last update. Progress continues mostly on the new numbers. Some errors and broken links have been fixed.

We have completed another cycle through our composites at yoyo@home. This cycle was to bring the newer composites closer to the work on the older composites and to even out the work vs size curve as seen in the Progress page. In addition to the previously reported factor, yoyo user Big.Benn found a P35 from 233264+1, leaving a C5096. Also RSALS, currently working as the 14e sub-project of NFS@home, did the GNFS to finish the C168 from 21584+1. Mathew did the post-processing. Another cycle of ECM has begun at yoyo@home with the same objectives.

Update on the overall status of the project: a composite totaling slightly over 972460 digits remains after dividing out known primes. The smallest composite remaining is 197 digits, the largest is 208052.

The Progress Page was current in January. Since then Yoyo has found one factor and yoyo is well along on the next slice of ECM, designed to bring the "newest" at the bottom towards parity with the "new" and to smooth out some of the bumps on the size vs ecm curve.

What's the latest status of the project? The project page was last updated 26 April 2016, and yoyo does not seem to be working on any elevensmooth numbers (though yoyo is currently testing its new higher B1 level capabilities so that may be interrupting the queue).

This was always an interesting project to me that seemed beyond my capacity to effectively help. Has the state of the art in integer factorization such as it is progressed enough to push the elevensmooth project forward?

That C197 is well within NFS@Home's GNFS capabilities, and RyanP could probably factor it in a reasonable amount of time.

Yes it is, if Ryan chooses to factor it. But wandering around the 11-smooth site, it definitely has an abandoned feel to it. William hasn't posted here for over a year. Hoping he resurfaces.

Is it feasible to try to even restart 11-smooth? Many of the remaining composites are quite large. Even if restarted and factors get produced, how (and to whom) are they reported beyond fdb?

Ryan is now sieving the C197.
