This sequence was reserved by Tom Womack (fivemack) when Clavier's site was last updated, but he unreserved it in July 2019. The blue page hasn't updated with my reservation. Does it not automatically update reservations below 10000? (indeed turns out it doesn't) I tried sending Clavier an email at the address listed on his site, and got an "address not found" error. I've found an updated email address; we'll see what he has to say.

FYI the sequence is currently at line 2514. The numbers got smaller quite quickly, so I haven't updated it in factordb because I figured that would make it less likely someone else would start working on it. Oh well...

I was wondering why it didn't update the reservation status, but since other < 10000 number actually did show reservation by someone I assumed it wasn't reserved.

Well, until someone like me was explicitly looking for c160 numbers... Would you mind uploading the sequence to factordb? Otherwise similar "accident" might happen. And it'd be interesting to see if the sequence could actually be terminated.

Did you hear back from Clavier? If he's ok with it, the numbers could be included in the blue page system.

I thought that people would be more likely to look for sequences without drivers and with small composites than for c160s to factor. And that might still be true, so I'm going to hold off for now. To give you an idea of what I mean, here is the current status of the sequence, at line 2855:

Code:
2527215137...24<106> = 2^3 · 13 · 31^2 · 977 · 2588158823...23<98>

Yes, see post 3473. I PM'd ChristianB who runs the blue page but he hasn't logged onto the forum since April.

But wouldn't that make some sort of reservation system for these ranges even more important? Worst case someone with a lot of computer power picks up that sequence and overtakes you without any malicious intent. If the blue page isn't updated, maybe a thread here at MF just for n < 10000? There are a couple ones I thought looked interesting but were in that range. Last fiddled with by bur on 2021-06-18 at 16:28

Yes, I'm still working on it, but I won't be updating factordb at least until it gets back to 150 digits with a driver.

Now that Clavier is no longer keeping track of this range I don't see any reason for these sequences to be treated any differently from those above 10000. Ideally ChristianB reads his PMs and changes the blue page so that it accepts reservations below 10000 from this thread. If anyone has an email address for him please do let me know.

Yes, I got why you do it now, I hope most of the poaching is unintentional though - like mine.

So a blue page update surely would be ideal, but if that doesn't happen it would be good to have a reservation system for that range.
