I've been fiddling with the mprime program's ECM factoring routines. Specifically, I've done what has been described in previous threads (setting up an appropriate worktodo.ini file, along with the local.ini and prime.ini files, then running the program), but was wondering how one can set up the program so that both processors in a dual processor machine are used.
Here's what I tried: I created my .ini files, and then ran the following command in the command line $ ./mprime -B2 > log.txt This did indeed end up running two copies of mprime, but the second copy ran an LL test (and communicated with primenet) instead of doing ECM. Do I have to recreate a second set of .ini files for the second copy of mprime to run off of? Does anyone have any experience trying to do this? I did a quick search of the forums, but could not find a suitable answer. I'm trying to do this in Linux, on a dual P4 machine. If anyone can help me, or if I wrote something that is unclear, please let me know. Hatori27 |

HI Hatori27,
I am a little confused here. Do you wish to run ECM on both processors with the same number on each processor, or do you wish to run ECM on both processors with an unique number for each processor? I run dual processors with an unique number for each processor. I have set up 2 directories for mprime ( I run linux) and run each processor as if it were a separate machine. I set each to have affinity for which processor I wish it to run on. HTH Carlos |

The easiest solution is to copy mprime to another directory. Run mprime from both directories.

Hatori,
I agree with george (Prime95's) suggestion. He wrote the mprime/Priem95 program by the way ![]() |
