Chick Corea

The keyboardist, composer and bandleader Chick Corea — one of the most revered figures in contemporary jazz, but whose work spanned fusion to classical — died on Feb. 9 at age 79.

Dan Muse from Chick Corea Productions confirmed his death to NPR on Thursday afternoon. Corea's team also reported his death on social media, saying that he died from "a rare form of cancer which was only discovered very recently." No other details about his illness and death were shared.

At least I got a chance to see him perform live. It was at a small club in Oklahoma City -- a very intimate setting and very wonderful concert ("The Chick Corea Electric Band" with Dave Weckl on drums and John Patitucci on Bass).

Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh, the radio host who revolutionized conservative talk radio and became the medium's biggest and most influential star, is dead at the age of 70.

The death was announced on his program by his wife, Kathryn Limbaugh. The Hill has reached out to The Rush Limbaugh Show for further comment.

Yes, Rush is on my "Why not sooner?" list.

Perhaps when people like him go to their reward, they are treated to a variation of the plot of a well-known movie, and get to see how much better things would have been if they had never been born.

Maybe people who have publicly denied the bad health effects of cigarettes after they became known (as Rush did in 1994), after they go to their reward, find themselves being asked "Are you smoking more but enjoying it less?"
