If you want to communicate in a professional manner, then please take the time to write proper English. This includes proper capitalization, punctuation, spelling and grammar. If you can't take the time to communicate properly, then why should anyone else take the time to answer you? And now, to answer your question: Just ask within this forum. Post it here and we will tell you if it is new and whether it is known to be true or false. You should also take the time to read a book on elementary number theory and do at least some of the exercizes. We can suggest some good ones. I assume that you have at least mastered first year algebra? You can't discuss mathematics intelligently unless you know at least some of the basics and can formulate questions in language that makes sense. |

However, I suspect that tomer's native language may not be English. If I'm right, perhaps you should make some allowance for it. I agree that an effort should be made to communicate in clear English (on an English-laguage forum anyway) but perhaps an effort has been made already. When I was 14 neither my German nor my French was good enough to write an article which is as comprehensible as the one which started the thread. In fact, my French and German are probably still not good enough ![]() Paul |

Assuming the poster is ESL (english as a second language), I would hold them to what you say for formal publication. Even then, it does not always happen: I've read numerous journal articles in which ESL authors didn't quite hit the mark but nonetheless were understandable and were published. Discussion here should be a little more relaxed than formal publication standards, IMO. |

To R.D silverman.
As i told you I'm 14 years old and it isn't my native language. I have read books about mathematics and I have a passion to mathematics. BTW: to the other people that answered my questions: you didn't really found it important to answer it and instead of it you just spoke about my writing. please write about the main theme, it is important for me more then my internet writing. |

Dougal,
I have a common sense. I published two problems: 1) how to know if my mathematical ideas didn't found before. And the second was written only because I wanted to ask it, Which was: 2) should I publish my mathematical ideals and conjectures on the internet or write a paper. BTW: my name is Tomer and please don't be petty. Last fiddled with by blob100 on 2010-01-27 at 19:20 |

posting your conjecture here will get you an answer to your question fairly quick.

I'll post the conjecture in some days only if my lecturer in the university will tell me a that it didn't found before.
BTW: I I'm too afraid to post it right now... (till today no one knows about my ideas in mathematics without including my dad). To be honest, I just don't know who is behind the computer on your sides which makes me wander if to post or not. |

If you want to do some background searching before posting it here, then google scholar might be of help if you know what keywords to search. If you don't know how to categorize your work such that google returns nothing useful, then getting expert opinion in a place like this is a good option to get started.
