Spoken in the tone of the narrarator for "A Christmas Story"; you know the one with the BB gun, the kid who gets his tongue stuck to the frozen pole, etc.; that one?:

![]() True story by the way (except the depression and crying part). lol On that final machine before the changeover, the next-to-last test on it spit one out: 833*2^373286-1 is prime! All thanks to IronBits server going down this afternoon! ![]() Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2008-03-07 at 23:43 |

Rank 4! We're two behind TPS. Two to go, and we're number three...after that, we have about 300 to go to the next rank (ignoring what numbers fall off). |

I think Karsten had 4 new primes in a single n=200 manual LLR reservation earlier but that was at a lower range and I think they were more spread out than this. A truly remarkable run of primes here. What's even more amazing is that 2 of the 4 are for k=400-500, which have many more previously found primes than any other 100k range for k=400-1001. |

Final tally: 13 top-5000 primes from midnight to midnight GMT!!
Definitely a new daily record for NPLB. I seem to recall 11 previously but I'm not sure if they were all top-5000. All new except one...What a run! Even better...with Karsten's last prime, we're at 13 primes from midnight-now CDT U.S. with >3.5 hours to go...amazing. Perhaps we'll get another couple of them before midnight here. ![]() |

Admin edit: 19 primes in a 24-hour time frame: 14 top-5000 and 5 non-top-5000. This is the current standing NPLB record for total primes in 24 hours for n>260K in which there were at least 4 top-5000 primes!!
