Are you running dual-boot?

1. You could consider a Windows-boot/WSL/Ubuntu-or-whatever sandwich as an option to add to that; if it helps in any way, great, if not, ignore or uninstall.
2. But maybe first some serious at-cold-boot-from-it hardware diagnostics DVD or USB stick first to rule out detectable hardware issues, without clouding it with OS or driver possible issues, if you haven't gone there yet.
3. Or replacing the Nouveaux driver with NVIDIA's own GPU driver.
4. Or posting it as a Nouveaux bug somewhere the developers will see it, which might prompt the developers to address it. (I once asked for 64-bit traffic counters instead of 32-bit in an open source network monitor, and it was modified and available within 24 hours.)

WSL is not a realistic option for a number of reasons.

The Nvidia driver appears to have issues of its own with Ubuntu, 1060 card and this monitor, though I should try again.

I tried to find an appropriate site to post a bug report but failed. My incompetence, and I should try again.

A BRS event happened 30 minutes ago. First hang for well over a week.

Another approach might be to use the monitor as an external display on a Ubuntu laptop, where it appears to work well AFAICT, and move my environment to the laptop.

Yet another approach might be to check whether it is a Ubuntu issue, in which case using another distro might be a solution.

The problem with each of these last two solutions is the sheer amount of disruption it will cause. This workstation has a very rich environment which would need replicating.

What if there was a boot image that could be cloned onto a USB Stick... Or a network image... Containing every test everyone might possibly imagine. Launched from the BIOS by a "Smart hands and eyes" human...

I read that Twit in Chief might automatically delete all accounts not active in the last year.

Logged in (I had to allow two Javascript sources which downloaded and then ran all kinds of interesting things), radiated one message, then logged out. Tonnes of IPC happened between my browser and multiple servers during that four-minute session.

I barely have time for my real friends...

I wonder if this automatic deletion would include accounts that were not active because they were suspended. Including some he had promised to reinstate. Wouldn't that be hilarious terrible?
