Some questions about M929

After what I think being a reasonable googling, it seems like the status for this number is .. no effort being done.

http://www.mersenne.org/report_ECM/ lists it as having 20,200 of 112000 curves at B1 = 260000000. I infrequently check this, and no new curves has been registered there for ages.

This being a most wanted number, leads me to think that there would be more activity (ecm work or nfs factoring), yet I find nothing.

Is there any particular reason ?

Am I missing something ?

If not, I am going to do some curves on it :)

you could be missing that most things have been checked into the M1****** and higher ranges at last check.

It might be being sieved, NFS or such like.

Don't trust this page for exponents below 1200. Bruce did a lot of curves that haven't been reported. Then the PS3 folks did a HUGE number more. This number is ready for NFS, ECM is highly unlikely to be successful.

EPFL did indeed run a lot of curves. And at very high (3 x 10^9) B1 limits.

At this time, running ECM on either the 2- or 2+ numbers is unlikely to
be productive. If one wants to concentrate on base 2, do the 2LM's.
