Yesterday. Moderna booster after two OAZ.
Sore arm this morning. Migraine yesterdat afternoon/evening but that could well be coincidental as I get them moderately often. |

Got my booster on Monday. Moderna (after Pfizer for the first shots). Sore arm for 2 days. I also got mild fluish symptoms for a day, but no fever, but that could have been from the flu shot I got at the same time (other arm, it didn't get sore).

In people who had received two doses of AZ, the study found a 30-fold rise in antibody levels after a Moderna booster, and a 25-fold rise after a Pfizer booster. Perhaps I got lucky. |

Got my 3rd Pfizer shot yesterday.
Until now they have been saying it had to be 5.5-6 months after your 2nd shot, and they were only doing people 65+ year old the last weeks and months. But then due to Omicron they suddenly said on Sunday Dec 12th: From tomorrow everyone 40+ can get 3rd shot if it has been just 4.5 months since 2nd. |

It also singles out New York and California for special opprobrium. It occurred to me to wonder, what was the actual article with the headline "Is It Safe to Go to Thanksgiving Dinner?" which prompted the wife's growling murmur. The only such article I found was this advice column in azcentral by an Arizona Republic columnist. Well, Arizona's right next to California, right? And Phoenix is a major metropolitan area, right? ![]() These people... ![]() Last fiddled with by Dr Sardonicus on 2021-12-16 at 23:57 Reason: fignix potsy |

There's plenty out there to pick from. A sampling:

I restricted my search by using the exact phrase "Is It Safe to Go to Thanksgiving Dinner?" quoted in the Atlantic article, which also refers to advice columns. I'm confident I found the correct one.
For myself, WRT gatherings indoors, I'd say everyone being vaccinated (and boosted if eligible), and nobody immune compromised, is about as good as you can do as far as COVID is concerned. To me it would make more sense to get tested maybe a week or so afterward, before visiting anyone who is immune compromised or with some other condition making them more likely to become seriously ill if exposed to COVID. Locally, there was someone working at a nearby hospital (maintenance, not health care related) who refused to get vaccinated, knowing they'd be fired. And when they were fired, they were posting on social media looking for odd jobs like house cleaning, etc. So, somebody who has refused the jab is now wanting work involving going into other peoples' houses. Not my house... |
