I always thought Kriesel would perform the trial or P1 factoring if some users haven't done their own jobs correctly. It turned out that it was the fault of prime95, the default memory set should be friendly for everyone and the PRP tests should be accessible from the menu instead of worktodo.txt only because this problem got me several months ago too. Glad I wasn't the only person.
2 people started the PRP tests without P1 stage 2, interesting would be if some factors are hidden inside there https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...3374113&full=1 If I hadn't encountered these types of problems before, I wouldn't keep asking Kriesel to check whether I have done everything correctly or not. It'll be nice to have "Show Recommended Tasks before PRP Tests" for every exponent.
Then the Mersenne server will show: Trial Factoring from 2^73 to 2^74 Trial Factoring from 2^74 to 2^75 Trial Factoring from 2^75 to 2^76 Trial Factoring from 2^76 to 2^77 Trial Factoring from 2^77 to 2^78 P1 Factoring with B1 = 1,000,000 and B2 = 40,000,000 Right click on the line to get the assignment. Is it possible to integrate mfaktc0.21 into Prime95, so the users have the options to choose whether to primarily run the tests from CPU or GPU? Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 20210405 at 19:48

mfaktc doesn't do prp testing, and P95 shouldn't be used for trial factoring so there ought not to be a choice to use CPU or GPU. Just use the right tool for each job, you know?

I can stop Prime95 whenever I desire, so less of the hardware overheating problems. Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 20210406 at 18:06

If you have overheating problems, fix your hardware.

Since my father won't buy me a new PC very often, I already make up my mind that I'll get a new Threadripper type of PC some time during year 2022 as soon as the new type of GPUs such as Nvidia Lovelace or AMD RDNA 3 become widely available. I'm assuming that the memory sticks will be DDR5 and the monitor resolution will be 2560x1440 or greater.

1. Poach GPU72 (Trial Factoring reservations up to 5,000,000+ from the current exponent frontier) 2. Perform PRPs on tuckerkao's favorite exponents Nearly everyone will be able to predict which path Ben Delo's automated machines will advance to. Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 20210406 at 20:10

GPU72 is following the recommended levels as seen on Mersenne.ca. The bit level jump happens between 199.4 and 199.5M Quote:

What makes you think the next machine you build won't overheat? If you don't know why your current one overheats, how will you avoid the same problem next time?

I got Gerbicz error after running Prime95 over a week, so I'll turn off my machine at least once a week for the night. The overheating of CPU won't occur unless I don't turn off my machine at all, so I can accept this reality now. Not desirable, just okay.
I stop Prime95 when I want to play video games like "Cities Skylines". Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 20210406 at 22:35
