Do you think he hand picks between 185 and 660 exponents every single day for 1.5 years?? He did 187,387 total PRP tests so far as of right now. He just lets mprime/Prime95 run whatever primenet gives it, and he only worries about throughput, costs and if he found a prime yet or not. If he happens to run or not to run one of "your" exponents, that is just by chance, sorry. Last fiddled with by ATH on 2021-03-08 at 23:23 |

Everybody knows that the Earth is spinning around. However, from time to time an idiot is born that believes that it spins around himself.

What do the different percentages tell us? Why is the "actual" limit lower than the GPU72 limit? Sorry for using this thread but I thought I could rather do that open a new one. |

All? ;) Seriously though, I wonder about all of them.
Is it the probability to find a factor with the respective TF limit or B1/B2 settings? And the row "PrimeNet" is the recommended TF limit or B1/B2 for CPU tasks? "Combined probability", I assume it's the probability when doing both TF and P-1? But "Prob over default TF" I don't really get. It's the same as P-1 probability, which makes sense, but not for the "Actual" row as it's apparently compared to PrimeNet TF probability and not to Actual. Why is that? |

I've sometimes paused my P-1 factoring around 70% to 80% of Stage 2 and begin another exponents, repeat the process for several of them to align their submission time to the desired hours. I understand it's the prime95 server assigning, however when Ben Delo picks up more of my guesses, I'm highly motivated to do more including other trial factoring and PRP tasks. As long as Kriesel doesn't say I've poached his assignments, it's all great. I got 2 more from him, so all good for today - https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...exp_hi=&full=1 https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...exp_hi=&full=1 Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 2021-03-26 at 23:01 |

If most of other users have their computers turned off during the early morning of U.S. Eastern Time and Ben Delo's machines are on, that determines my higher chance.
While Ben is automatized, a lot of other users including me are not. Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 2021-03-26 at 23:11 |

It really doesn't matter what machine does the work, as long as it's done correctly. It's not even Ben's software running, you realize, he just has access to a tremendous amount of computing power that he's donating to the cause. You don't even want to guess how much that computer time is probably costing him. |
