Default Reserving 334.0M - 334.1M range to 2^66

I picked up the 2430 expos in the 334.0M - 334.1M range (i.e. 334000013 - 334099999).

Initially I will factor them up to 2^64 which will take a couple of days only using a single core on my Xeon server, then moving up to 2^66.

Already 374 expos factored up to 2^64 so far -> 15 factors found

Sounds good, love the help in this range. You did the self assignement trick mentioned here, right?

BTW, this should be in the LMH > 100M subforum.

Yes, I read through a bunch of posts and followed the "trick". I tried to grap a range without stepping onto anyone's toes and assignment went smooth without any error messages.

However, when I tried to post a message at the "aka 100M digit range" thread, the post did not show up for more than 24h so that I started wondering why. Seems like posts need the approval of an admin before showing up so that either my post was not approved for some reason or something else went wrong. So I started to think about opening a new thread (which I normally try to avoid) to see whether it will show up this time. (Edit: Seems that only the very first post needs approval so that it was a one-time issue)

And yes, the subforum would have been the correct place but I simply missed it when thinking about how to make this post show up at least somewhere. I also did not find any way to contact an admin directly, e.g. by sending a PM. But it should be easy for the admins to move it...

I'm thinking to bring this range up to at least 2^70 but noticed that in the range below there is also a lot of work to do as a bunch of expos is still at the 2^65 and 2^66 level. Any preference? Just let me know.

In the range that starts at 332192831, any unassigned exponents are free. Grab them and run them up.
There is a thread tracking the lower parts of that level.

Yes, the first post trap is what you ran into.

Welcome to the project!

Correct (* grumble - inefficiencies necessitated by spammers *).

When you're at the forum level (looking at the "Threads in Forum" list), forum moderators are listed near the bottom, on the right. (I don't know whether that display is suppressed for first-timers.)

I could see the names of the forum moderators at the bottom and could see their statistics BUT the "contact info" page was hidden which means that it is not displayed until your first post has been approved.

-> So that display is indeed suppressed for first-timers!

I really understand that you do not want spammers to sign up and start sending PMs to all members but I think it would be helpful if at least some forum moderators were reachable.

The spammers don't do much of that, the cleverer ones write a post that looks harmless and fits in with the subject, a mod approves it, and they then spam the forum. Luckily, most spammers are not clever.

Most spammers want to go the easy way - generating tons of spam with as little effort as possible.

So having to register and getting the very first post approved by a mod is just a small hurdle indeed but already enough to keep most spammers out.

Once I moved this range up to 2^66 I will look for some exponents in the lower range. At that time the other cores of my Xeon server and some PCs should have finished their current LL-work so that I can throw in more crunching power at any time if needed.

Just an interim note: All 2430 expos have been factored up to 2^64 meanwhile.

---> 121 factors found

Now I'll move them up to 2^66 to eliminate some more. Should be completed in less than 2 weeks using 3 cores of my Xeon server currently.
