A few years back there was a wild canine that I ran across that only had 2 full legs (the rear ones). The others appeared to have lost to the elbow/knee joint. The local animal rescue folks were contacted (because the animal appeared to be in some distress). They were aware of it and had yet to trap is so that they could assess it and either release it or find a sanctuary home for it.

The thief might be a meth addict who wanted to sell the statue for scrap metal.

The story reminds me of this 2010 story about a $26,000.00 bronze sculpture which was stolen in Woodland Park, CO. The thieves left part of it behind. They got $134.40 for their haul at a scrap yard.

Perhaps the present story is newsworthy because the sculpture is something of a local attraction, and there's a $10,000.00 reward for its safe return.

Police Close Case After Determining That Woman and Her Parents Joined Each Other in Cryptic Suicide Pact

In closing their case on a shocking triple shooting, police said that a woman and her parents all died last month as part of a suicide pact. First, Deborah A. Daub, 59, fatally shot her husband James A. Daub, 62, in the back of the head near their porch, according to the West Manchester Township Police Department in Pennsylvania. Then their daughter Morgan E. Daub, 26, shot Deborah in the back of the head too. Finally, Morgan died by suicide by shooting herself in the back of the head, investigators said.

They died overnight January 24-25. On November 26, 2022 Morgan had made a YouTube video in which she "abdicated" the throne of the UK. From the news accounts, she had been experiencing "auditory hallucinations" which were "not getting better." To me, this suggests schizophrenia. It didn't occur to anyone in the family that she might have a treatable condition? Wow.
